“And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these
little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth,
he will certainly not lose his reward." - Matthew 10:42 NIV
Jesus put a premium on helping those in need. We see Jesus
not only healing those who were sick, but feeding multitudes,
standing up for the weak, and instructing his disciples to
help anyone in need.
The Salvation Army believes has its ‘heart to God and
hand to man’
just as Christ. Through all that we do, we try
to show Christ to those we help.
Assistance for the following Social Services 11/11/2006
is provided for residents of the Southern Dutchess area (call to verify eligibility).
DISASTER ASSISTANCE - special assistance is provided for those who are victims of a fire, flood, or other emergency. Clothing, food, and other assistance may be available for you pending verification.
UTILITY ASSISTANCE - The Good Neighbor Fund was created in 1985 to provide "last-resort" grants toward Central Hudson bills for local residents who have exhausted all other forms of assistance. When paying their own bills, customers have the opportunity to make contributions, which are matched by the company's shareholders. The program is administered through local corps of the Salvation Army. Families having difficulty paying their utility bills should first contact their local Department of Social Services office to inquire about the federal government's Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP). Those who have exhausted all other forms of assistance available to them may then contact Central Hudson at 845-452-2700 or 1-800-527-2714 or The Salvation Army to determine their eligibility for a Good Neighbor Fund Grant.
